Bedlinen

What's the difference between 200 and 600 thread-count? Why should threads be yarn-dyed? What really makes the best bedlinen? It's time to divulge our secrets! If you want to upgrade your bedlinen, here's what to look for - and how to ensure you're getting a great deal.

Types of Bedlinen

You might begin your search by browsing through the bedlinen at your local department stores. Ignore trade names such as 'cotton percale' and 'Egyptian' - these can be misleading - and instead focus on the thread count of the cotton. This gives you a truer indication of quality. Higher thread count creates more luxurious cotton with a better drape and feel, and it also means your bedlinen will last longer (and bobble less).

The type of bedlinen you use will depend on your sleeping preferences. Many people use a Fitted Sheet to cover the mattress (designed to fit snugly, so you don't have to waste time re-tucking it night after night) and a Flat Sheet on top, beneath a duvet. (In summer, a flat sheet can sometimes be enough on its own.)

In the UK, Duvet Covers are all a standard size - making it easy to mix and match between manufacturers. You'll probably want to order matching Pillow Cases with your bedlinen for a co-ordinated look (or stick to one shade to make it easy for you to swap bedlinen in different rooms).

Bedlinen Sizes

In the UK, bedding and bedlinen are all standard sizes, so it's easy to order the right size for your bed - and we've got the right linens for yours, whether it's a modest Single or Double, or a luxurious King or Superking. If you are uncertain about sizes, measure your mattress or duvet and compare the figures with those on the Specification tab for each product.

Our pillowcases (all sold in packs of 2) come in Standard, Superking, and Square sizes - and they'll fit any pillows from the DAPW collections.

Bedlinen Ranges

To make things simple, we offer three ranges of bedlinen. We spent a long time perfecting the specification on each one, so you can be assured that it meets our stringently high standards.

Our pride and joy is the Luxury 600TC Range. This is a relatively new collection that features a breathtaking cotton thread-count of 600. We found the fabric in the States and couldn't wait to make our own - order some and find out why!

Although it's priced as cotton bedlinen, the Luxury range is exceptionally soft and silky, with a lovely natural sheen. Our Classic 200TC Range is designed to match the high-street's 'luxury' options, with a luxury linen feel and beautiful finishing touches.

And last but by no means least, our newest addition is Mulberry Silk bedlinen. Because some people just love the idea of sleeping on silk - and we can't say we blame them! We selected Mulberry silk for its unusually long fibres and fine yarn, which makes it one of the world's premier silks.

Bedlinen Colour Options

We decided not to mess around making bedlinen in patterns and colours for every mood - instead our focus was on quality. Our classic and luxury bedlinen is going to last you for years, and to give it longevity we selected three shades that will match any interior (even if you paint the walls fuchsia in 2011!).

Our bedlinen is yarn-dyed, which means it won't fade or bobble over time. Choose from White or Cream (Mulberry Silk in Ivory) for a perfectly serene, effortlessly durable look in your quietest room.
