A thrown pillow landed an Edgwater resident in jail on a charge of battery on a law enforcement officer, police said.

Erik John Batty, 39, was arrested after an officer responding to a disturbance call was on the receiving end of a hurled pillow he suspected as being a possible biohazard.

Batty’s father, George Batty, called the police after his son became combative when he went to check on him Sunday afternoon at the Driftwood Mobile Home Park on South Ridgewood Avenue.

When Edgewater Officer, Miles Lawler tried to speak to Erik Batty, he started yelling at the officer, Lawler said. After ordering Lawler out of his residence, Erik Batty is accused of throwing the pillow, which the officer was able to deflect.pillow

Due to Erik Batty having numerous diseases, Lawler suspected the pillow miht contain biohazards, so he arrested the man, a report states.

Erik Batty was being held Monday at the Volusia County Branch Jail on $1,500 bail.

sleeping-on-a-planeYou can already picture the scenario. Heads pushed up against the window, people who you don’t even know lying on your shoulder and dribbling, and screaming kids really not feeling the comfort of the plane and their parents trying with all their energy to keep them quiet.

There is nothing glamorous about sleeping on a plane and there is very little that can be done about it unless you are sleeping in first class, are a narcoleptic or a tiny person who can manage to curl up in a ball in one seat.

Well if you are jet setting off this winter to a hotter climate we at Duvet and Pillow Warehouse have come up with some great ideas to spot the best sleeping spot on the whole plane.

    • Know your good seats from your bad seats. Avoid the ones that don’t recline like the back row on the plane and some exit row seats.
    • Search the plan for an unoccupied row so you can stretch out like a cat.
    • For sleeping the window seat is generally the best. You can rest your head between the cabin wall and the seat.
    • Noise cancelling headsets or ear plugs to block out the sound of crying children, arguing couples, snoring passengers.
    • To avoid being disturbed leave your tray table up when they come round with food and beverages.
    • Wear cotton or wool garments, not polyester or rayon.
    • Drink lots of water and keep one near by for later night sips.
    • Purchase a neck pillow either on the plane or prior to your flight so you can get straight to sleep the second you sit in your seat.

Duvet and Pillow Warehouse are passionate about duvets and pillows and understand the importance of a good night sleep where ever it is you will be. If you aren’t jet setting off this winter, why not take a look at some comfortable and cosy bed linen at www.duvetandpillowwarehouse.co.uk.
