Most people are unhappy about their weight and around 90% of us have tried some sort of diet at some point, to fail miserably and even resulting in actually gaining weight!

But a recent study has proven that there may be a very simple reason as to why some of us struggle to loose weight and keep it off, and this is lack of sleep. This study has shown that lack of a good night sleep can increase hunger and affect your body’s metabolism, which will make it hard to maintain weight loss or lose weight in the first place.

This is because sleep loss makes you feel hungry even if you are full, this is because it affects secretion of cortisol, which is the hormone that regulates your appetite, so people who get less sleep will still feel hungry even after they have eaten enough food.

Lack of sleep can also increase your fat storage, and this will also interfere with the body’s metabolic rates, causing you to store carbohydrates which will turn into fat and also increase your blood sugar levels – all of these side affects just from not getting a good eight hours?!

What better excuse do you need to get yourself to the duvet and pillow warehouse pillow sale and duvet sale to ensure you are as comfortable as possible and get the eight hours sleep that we all need!

If you loose weight it is a fact that it can improve your sleep pattern, as well as your partner’s if you have a problem with snoring… after losing weight there was a reduction in snoring from a massive 82% to just 14%!

So there you have it, forget spending hours at the gym, and just snuggle up under your duvet for a great night sleep whilst losing weight!

We all know how important sleep is and how it effects us if we don’t get enough, we struggle with work, and find it hard to focus and life in general just feel like hard work!

Sometimes we wish we could live without sleep, it takes up so much time, and we miss out on so many other things we could be doing whilst we are asleep, but it is still essential that we get 8 hours of rest each night, so staying out clubbing and drinking until 3am and being up at 7am for a lecture isn’t such a great idea, but if you are a student, or have ever been a student you will be very aware that this happens, and for most students very regularly.

And when most sleeping problems occur when alcohol is involved, whether this be from being knocked out and dead to the world whilst sleeping off a monster hangover, or being wide awake due to too much vodka and red bull, the duvet and pillow warehouse will try their best to give you little snippets of information regarding sleep problems to ensure you enjoy the best night sleep, even at the weekends…

If your not completely tired and you have things on your mind you will struggle to drift off into dreamworld naturally, so our advice is that if you have been led awake whilst trying to fall asleep for more than 30 minutes, the best thing to actually do it get up… no we haven’t gone mad, we did say, get up!

Try to do something calm and relaxing, such as reading a book or having a nice warm drink, anything that doesn’t cause any mental strain that will make you brain even more active, and make sure the light in your room is low, even just have a candle lit, and after a while you should start to feel tired and drowsy so thats when you should return to your bed and peacefully drift away to the land of nod.

As you probably can tell, we love duvets and pillows. Some say we are a little bit obsessed and need to get a life, but we feel this is our life and we are really reluctant to change!

You may think, ‘Oh my days, I wouldn’t want to be friends with this lot, they sound really boring;… but we think you should be our best friend as we give you the best advice and products to make sure you have the perfect night sleep each and every night.

Sometimes we write funny articles, other times we write informative articles, really anything that takes our fancy, but we always have our customers in mind and want to make you laugh out loud, feel fully informed and in the know about the world of duvets, pillows and bedding.

Well as it is Friday, and the weekend is here, we want you to have a bit of a laugh about the world of duvets and pillows and have found some rather strange bedding concoctions that we have found on the web.

Coffin Bed

coffin-bedSleeping in a coffin is some people’s idea of fun, but it definitely isn’t ours. However someone mental person out there has made a coffin bed which costs as little as $4,000. Bargain!

What is even more disturbing is that ‘locks and latches’ are available at an added price. Lovely!

Funky Eye Mask

stylish-sleep-maskAll you will need is a piece of ’self-adhesive’ black felt, a hot glue gun, some satin, and a selection of decorations including sequins and glittery puff paint, throw it all together and you have your own Funky Eye Mask! Gosh, we feel like we are on Blue Peter, except without the ‘Here’s one we made earlier’ because our first attempt was rubbish!

Floating Bed

floating-bed-1The other night I was dreaming about a $1.5 million dollar magnetic floating bed for my bedroom, woke up the next day and found the exact one I was looking for the web!

As If!

The floating bed is tethered down with four cables to prevent your bed from floating out and taking a spin, with the bottom of the mattress is covered with enough magnets to keep almost 2000 pounds floating in the air.

To be honest the concept is pretty cool but we like to keep our feet on the ground and keep to what we know best! :-) Yes you can call us boring but do you have $1.5 million in your back pocket! We think not!

However, if you do, we think it would be money well spent if you visit www.duvetandpillowwarehouse.co.uk to buy all of your bedding products. As the winter season approaches you need to keep super warm during the chilly season and the best way to do that is with Duvet and Pillow Warehouse who have some fabulous winter discounts on offer on all their duvets and pillows.

duvets1As the summer season (or what summer we had!) comes to an end and the cold nights and dark mornings set in, the thought of getting out of our cosy bed under the warm duvet is something any of us want to think about, let alone do.

On top of this, many of us are trying to save as much money as we can and are saving energy by using less water and heat in the home. As cost effective as this is, it doesn’t really keep us warm through those long winter nights, and many of us don’t have sufficient enough bedding to keep us snug and warm each night.

At Duvet and Pillow Warehouse, we live for beds and know exactly what makes a bed comfortable and cosy. We have a wide range of bedding products such as duvets and pillows, memory foam toppers and bed linen to ensure you get the most comfort each and every night.

To make sure that you wrap up this winter, Duvet and Pillow Warehouse have come up with some top tips and idea for bedding products for you to buy in your home.

The Comfort of Down

Down is light and fluffy and able to retain just the right degree of warmth for most bodies, making it one of the best products for comfortable bedding.

Prices on down products can vary drastically but at Duvet and Pillow Warehouse, they have the the best quality down products at the lowest prices in comparison to their competitors.

We recommend 100 per cent pure white goose down bedding for complete luxury and ultimate comfort.

Down products are often not recommended for people who suffer with allergies, but a good company will ensure the materials are washed and properly cared for to reduce the dust, dirt and allergens before they sell it on to you.

sleeping-on-a-planeYou can already picture the scenario. Heads pushed up against the window, people who you don’t even know lying on your shoulder and dribbling, and screaming kids really not feeling the comfort of the plane and their parents trying with all their energy to keep them quiet.

There is nothing glamorous about sleeping on a plane and there is very little that can be done about it unless you are sleeping in first class, are a narcoleptic or a tiny person who can manage to curl up in a ball in one seat.

Well if you are jet setting off this winter to a hotter climate we at Duvet and Pillow Warehouse have come up with some great ideas to spot the best sleeping spot on the whole plane.

    • Know your good seats from your bad seats. Avoid the ones that don’t recline like the back row on the plane and some exit row seats.
    • Search the plan for an unoccupied row so you can stretch out like a cat.
    • For sleeping the window seat is generally the best. You can rest your head between the cabin wall and the seat.
    • Noise cancelling headsets or ear plugs to block out the sound of crying children, arguing couples, snoring passengers.
    • To avoid being disturbed leave your tray table up when they come round with food and beverages.
    • Wear cotton or wool garments, not polyester or rayon.
    • Drink lots of water and keep one near by for later night sips.
    • Purchase a neck pillow either on the plane or prior to your flight so you can get straight to sleep the second you sit in your seat.

Duvet and Pillow Warehouse are passionate about duvets and pillows and understand the importance of a good night sleep where ever it is you will be. If you aren’t jet setting off this winter, why not take a look at some comfortable and cosy bed linen at www.duvetandpillowwarehouse.co.uk.

autumn-bedThis season, designers from around the world looked toward the Land of Nod for inspiration when designing the latest trends and fashions for that autumn look.

Yes, those matchy-matchy striped pajamas and woollen bed socks struck the attention of some of the most prestigious designers in the land.

Now we (as always) can see exactly why they would pick the bedroom and all its fun accessories as inspiration because we look for inspiration, style and comfort in there every single day.

All of our bedding pillows, duvet covers, sheets and mattresses are completely designed with your comfort in mind so you get a good night’s sleep.

The new autumn styles for this season are centred around the place where everyone wants to be as the summer draws to a close. Lying-in is always a fun activity (and sometimes a bit rebellious) for many of us, but we don’t get the chance to do it. Now, with the autumn look resembling your jim jams and hot water bottle, you will feel like you have never got out of bed every day.

Keeping the bedroom as comfy and as cosy as possible is very important if you want a good night’s sleep. Make sure that you choose the right bedding pillows to support your neck and back and the comfiest duvet to keep you warm during the winter nights.

To buy your new bedding products at affordable prices during the autumn season, visit Duvet and Pillow Warehouse today and take a look at our autumn prices on duvets, pillows, sheets and memory foam mattresses.

In the light of recent studies showing that sleeping next to your partner can cause long term marital problems and like of sleep, we thought the team who know all about duvets and pillows should have a bit of a say!

We believe that comfort is the upper most importance when sleeping in a bed, and think that many of these married couples aren’t suffering because of the snoring, they are actually lying on the wrong mattress, sleeping on the wrong pillow and cuddling up under the wrong duvet!

Researchers are saying that people are struggling to sleep as their partner suffers from allergies and sniffles and coughs all night or snores till their heart’s content and hogs the duvet covers. Well this scenario isn’t uncommon in many households, but sleeping in separate beds is a little too extreme for our liking, and so we have come up with some better and more practically solutions to keeping your marriage happy and your sleeping habits on top form.

    Hogging the duvet

Many couples have this problem of their other half hogging the duvet and waking up in the middle of the night freezing. Solution? Get a bigger duvet! Just because you have a queen-sized bed, if you and your partner love the duvet then buy a king sized duvet so everyone is happy! At Duvet and Pillow Warehouse we have a wide range of duvets in all sizes available and the prices are very affordable so you won’t feel like you are breaking the bank!

Sneezing and Coughing all over the show

Many people suffer from allergies and have problems with dustmites which cause them to cough and sneeze all night. This can drive a person mental if they are trying to get to sleep with the peaceful sound of coughing and being sneezed-on every ten minutes. If this sounds a little bit like you then you may want to consider buying hypoallergenic pillowsand duvets. The material reduces the amount of dustmites that live in your bed and effectively give you a good night’s sleep.

    Snoring!

    snoring-solution

Well we really don’t have much of a solution on the bedding front on this, but know that it can be pretty annoying! However, we found this rather strange invention made by a scientist in America which apparently reduces snoring.

However we did laugh when we saw this article on the Daily Mail website about a couple who share separate beds. Take a read over your coffee break today and realise that your niggling fights with your other half are relatively normal and we all argue about whose side of the bed the other one is on!
