Two guys from Utah have managed to make the necktie functional.

By making them blow up and act as a pillow, the duo have put together the new brand Pillow Ties.

The Pillow Tie is the invention of Tom Bowen, a former business student at Brigham Young University in Prove, Utah. The Daily Mail have said that the tie looks normal but has a larger not and can can be blown up in one breath and deflated in seconds.

Shawn Baxter, friend and business partner, said that Bowen had come up with the idea after his sister told him about a bad habit of her son sleeping in church.

“He used to sleep in church by rolling up his tied as a pillow,” Baxter told AOL News. “Around that time, Bowen was taking an entrepreneurial class where the assignment was to crate a new product.”

The idea came to light when Bowen thought sticking a pillow inside a normal tie would work and discussed the idea with his professor.

“The professor didn’t think Tom could do it,” Baxter said. “In fact, he laughed. However, Tom went to China and had it designed within four months.”

The professor saw Bowen’s results and graciously gave him the A he deserved telling the rest of the class that they would all be working for Bowen one day.

Now, 62 varieties of the Pillow Ties will be available at the ‘inflated’ price of £19.95; however the blow up part can be removed if the wearer wishes to simply wear a normal tie.

“We sell a lot of these to guys who hate ties or to women who get them as gifts for men who hate ties,” Baxter said.

The sales are expected to rise as they believe many people will see the need to incorporate a pillow into a tie due to boring corporate meetings, sleepy church sermons, tiring wedding ceremonies, where a pillow will most likely be appreciated.

The two business partners have already seen their ties being worn in public without people realising they are in the company of the two designers.

“In fact we will see people we have never met wearing the ties and ask them and they claim they know the owners,” Baxter said.

The pair are setting their ambitions high, saying, “We’d really like to see these on ‘The Office,” they said.

Single or lonely men sometimes miss having the odd snuggle up in bed with a partner, and we all know about pillows being hugged in replacement of a person, but a pillow which looks and feels like the lap of a female?!

Men think women have issues…?! Who would honestly use a ‘lap pillow’?! Someone with very little self pride, or on the other hand, a great sense of humour maybe?!

But now, single and lonely men can now use a lap pillow when they are missing a female companion, yes you did hear me right, i said a ‘lap pillow’.

These pillows consist of skin coloured thighs which are on show due to a rather short skirt…apparantly this pillow is perfect for men who like to feel comforted when they are napping, reading a book or just chilling watching the TV.

And as surprising as it may be, it is actually a very popular seller! When the lap pillow was first launched sales reached over 3000 in a matter of a couple of weeks.

When speaking about the product the managing director said “we created this item to help tired people relax, we thought our main customers would be men in their 20s, but even men in their 60s are buying it”

And great care and attention to detail was used when the lap pillow was designed, elements such as the softness of the thighs and wrinkles on the lap of the skirt – this is to make it feel and look as real as possible – which is a bit weird i know!

At the stores that stock them, the lap pillows gather crowds where people poke and touch the foam legs, seriously though, whatever next?!

Forget pillow fights, how’s this for the world’s largest pillow fright?!

This devil-red gnashing pillow derives from a character in Monster Hunter, named Furu Furu, and is the basis for what many believe to be the world’s scariest pillow due to owners waking in the night and being frightened to death.

The pillow is 105cm long and 28cm in diameter and its ‘mouth’ also functions as a storage pocket for your iPod, PSP, and any other sleepytime provisions – including body parts it happens to bite off in the night.

An American Girl Guides group are giving their hearts away next weekend.

As part of their “stress for less” badge project, the girls have spent six weeks cutting, stuffing and sewing heart-shaped pillows. But instead of brightening up living room sofas, the pillows will land in the arms of heart surgery patients at Scott and White Hospital.

Rachael Clift, one of three co-leaders, said the project was born when the girls came up with ways to be less stressed.

“One of them was to give to others because if you can focus on other people, sometimes that’s helpful instead of concentrating on what you’re stressed about,” she said.

Each troop member gave individual attention to a pillow, picking different fabrics and making them different in little ways. When the pillows were done, however, each girl added the same touch to their individual pillows. Letters, one pinned to each stuffed felt heart, carry words of encouragement for those who going through a grueling recovery process.

We love heart-felt stories like this, especially when they involve pillows too! You go girls.
