Taking a comforting souvenir from every city visits, pop star Katy Perry has admitted she steals the pillows from her hotel suite. The ‘Hot and Cold’ star is currently touring the world promoting her new album, ‘Teenage Dream’ has already stolen from New York, the Far East and Europe.

Travelling from Paris, France to London on Wed 1st September she confessed to BBC’s Radio one that she had built up a stash of feathery headrests on her trip. “I do steal pillows. I took the train, the Eurostar, yesterday and I was really upset that I didn’t steal a pillow from the last place I stayed.

“I don’t know if pillows are the most sanitary things when it comes to hotels. The pillow covers are okay, but the characters that lie their head there. I mean think of my head lying on the pillow…(for) that next person (it’s) horrible.”

She is also partial to stuffing her bag with the complimentary shampoo and treats from the minibar. She said, “I used to (steal bathroom products).

“I don’t anymore because I have so much to travel with, but I remember when I was 17 and I went to a really fancy hotel in Tokyo, it was my favourite, and I took home all the toothbrushes. And everyday I would ask the maids, ‘More lotions! More of these chocolates please!.’”

Women have been found to wake their sleeping partners up at night because they are jealous of their partners nodding off within moments of hitting the pillow.

Sleep envy – as it is known – can turn a lovely lady into a less than likeable partner.

Figures show that 1 in 4 women admitted to deliberately waking up their partner because they are jealous they aren’t able to fall asleep as easy.

The most common revenge is to simple toss and turn until their sleep-eyed partner wakes up.

The next wake up tactic is the ‘accidental’ poke or prod in the ribs.

Others used less than subtle tactics such as chatting until they got a reply, making a loud noise and even turning on the light or television.

One in ten actually confessed to pinching their partner to wake up.

The sleeping envy confessions came about after a poll was conducted about women and their sleeping habits. Around 25 per cent of the women took up to an hour to drop off, while most men said they fell asleep in under ten minutes.

A third of women said that they felt frustration at watching their partners effortlessly fall asleep while they toss and turn, leading to unnecessary arguments before bed.

“Not being able to sleep can be frustrating enough, bout our survey shows that it is made worse when you are next to someone who is sound asleep,” the Daily Mail quoted for Silentnight, which carried out the poll, as saying.

“However this sleep envy phenomenon is actually doing more harm than good and will only prevent you from getting to sleep longer.

“Sleepless Brits should try tiring themselves out by reading or having a warm drink in another room, so as not to disturb their partners,” he added.

If you are struggling to sleep at night you may want to consider changing your bedding to a more cosier duvet and pillow to ensure you are getting the most out of each night’s sleep. Outside looking outside

Two Brazilian artist lived like this for four months during 2009. Their bedroom featured a bed, hammock, sofa, potted plant, chest of drawers situated on the outside wall of a building in Rio de Janeiro. Luckily the pair didn’t expose all of their daily living and scrambled over the wall to use the bathroom in the neighbouring art gallery.

Bed in a box

A Japanese company designed this folding bedroom to allow apartment owners to make more space around their home. Designed for urban living, the idea was to fold down necessary furniture without compromising on form or functionality.

The rather bizarre but very practical design is a great way to create more space in a room, however we are not too sure how comfy those mattresses will be and would definitely have to opt for a memory foam pillow or memory foam mattress topper to sleep on each night.

Mirror room

From Propeller Island City Lodge in Berlin, this Mirror Room is diamond-shaped and lined top to bottom with mirrors created a kaleidoscope effect.

While rather cool and very retro, we are not too sure that waking up would be a easy task, especially having to see your own face in the morning staring back at you!

Whatever your style make sure that your room is super comfortable with a goose down duvet or memory mattress topper from Duvet and Pillow Warehouse.

Budget hotel group, Travelodge is to host the country’s first sleep concert, with the sole aim of sending its audience into a deep sleep.

Some of the biggest musicians will gather at th London City Road Travelodge at lunchtime on July 20th to hear works by Mozart, Bach, Michael Buble and Snow Patrol. All participants will be given duvets, eyemasks and pillows.

The dozy idea comes after its annual Sleep and Professions study, which listed the top ten professionals who suffered from the most sleep deprivation. The results showed that 75 per cent of Britain’s workforce are not getting their recommended eight hours of sleep.

Civil servants bankers, factory workers, doctors and teachers were the worst affected.

Travelodge sleep director, Leigh McCarron, said, “Sleep concerts have been a great success in Japan where stressed-out workers will pay £50 for the privilege of nodding off to a live music performance.

“This idea has inspired us to create our own UK version, giving exhausted workers the opportunity to relax, take a nap and feel revitalised, resulting in improved physical, mental and emotional health.”

Here at the duvet and pillow warehouse we stock a huge range of duvets and pillows in a range of materials, however for the hot summer months, our silk range is the most popular for getting a comfortable night’s sleep in the warm and stuffy weather, much better than trying to sleep under a feather, down or synthetic fibre duvet.

Here are five reasons for choosing a silk-filled duvet

1. Silk is light and soft and allows your skin to breathe – allowing excess moisture to escape. Silk duvets assist in regulating your body temperature by keeping you warm in winter, and cool in summer.

2. The criss-cross layers of silk enhance ventilation, resulting in a much more comfortable and restful night’sleep.

3. Silk is naturally hypoallergenic and dust mites can’t live in silk duvets, so you will not suffer from allergic reactions or require a dust-mite encasing on your duvet.

4. Though the silk duvet filling is formed of many layers of criss-crossed silk fibres, the silk floss filling is so fine that the duvet is very thin and light.

5. Silk duvets rarely need cleaning as they are dust mite free.

Yes, you did just read that correct – a man in Japan has actually married his pillow!

Lee Jin-gyu fell for his ‘dakimakura’ – which is a large, huggable pillow from Japan, these types of pillows often have a picture of a popular animation character printed on the side.

Lee’s pillow had an image of Fate Testarossa, from the animation series Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha – which probably means nothing to us here in the UK, but apparantly she is a popular figure in Japan, i wouldn’t go as far as to marry a pillow with her image on though… that is a little extreme!

Lee is 28 and is known amongst his friends as a obsessive nerd when it comes to the animation series, married his pillow in a special wedding ceremonty in Japan, he even dressed the pillow in a wedding dress which was performed by a local priest?!

‘He is completely obsessed with this pillow and takes it everywhere, they go out to the park or the funfair where it will go on all the rides with him. Then when he goes out to eat he takes it with him and it gets its own seat and its own meal.’ said one of Lee’s close friends.

Now i know people speak about ‘loving’ their bed, duvet and pillows – but this is one step too far!

Single or lonely men sometimes miss having the odd snuggle up in bed with a partner, and we all know about pillows being hugged in replacement of a person, but a pillow which looks and feels like the lap of a female?!

Men think women have issues…?! Who would honestly use a ‘lap pillow’?! Someone with very little self pride, or on the other hand, a great sense of humour maybe?!

But now, single and lonely men can now use a lap pillow when they are missing a female companion, yes you did hear me right, i said a ‘lap pillow’.

These pillows consist of skin coloured thighs which are on show due to a rather short skirt…apparantly this pillow is perfect for men who like to feel comforted when they are napping, reading a book or just chilling watching the TV.

And as surprising as it may be, it is actually a very popular seller! When the lap pillow was first launched sales reached over 3000 in a matter of a couple of weeks.

When speaking about the product the managing director said “we created this item to help tired people relax, we thought our main customers would be men in their 20s, but even men in their 60s are buying it”

And great care and attention to detail was used when the lap pillow was designed, elements such as the softness of the thighs and wrinkles on the lap of the skirt – this is to make it feel and look as real as possible – which is a bit weird i know!

At the stores that stock them, the lap pillows gather crowds where people poke and touch the foam legs, seriously though, whatever next?!
