It is a hundred year-old myth and a legendary icon for kids; the tooth fairy.

The magical being gives children money or a gift in exchange for baby teeth.

Parents tell kids when they are growing up to put their fallen out teeth under their pillow at night when they go to sleep and in the morning when they wake up, it would have vanished and in its place will be a shiny coin.

It is a tradition that can be traced back years but is very much alive in present days in the UK and in Ireland.

A professor at the Northwestern University Dental School, Rosemary Wells, found evidence that supported the origin of different tooth fairies in the US in 1900 whereas other folklorists suggest post-war affluence and media turned the myth into a custom.

Fairy dust is reportedly often found on the floor of children’s rooms as the Tooth Fairy uses the magic to be able to get into the room and make itself so small it can get in between small cracks and down vents.

What is more, how much money the Tooth Fairy leaves is debateable and very much depends on the family itself. The largest gift ever reported was by a responder in Manhattan, New York, America who got $1.2 million for one tooth fallen out.

But on average 300,000 teeth from children around the world are collected per night and that’s a lot of monies to be exchanged.

Studies show that a child will usually lose 20 teeth between the ages of six and 12 years-old and that these teeth are called deciduous teeth; so put your fallen out tooth under your pillows tonight and see what The Tooth Fairy will bring you in the morning.

We not long ago wrote about some of the arguable biggest divas in Hollywood and now latest reports suggest someone else should be thrown into the mix.

Britney Spears has spoken out how she has to have her fluffy pillow with her on her summer worldwide tour ‘Femme Fatale’.

The famous ‘Hold It Against me’ singer is about to embark on her UK tour this October but travelling so far across the pond means the American has to take with her a few home comforts to help her relax with all the travelling and not become homesick.

The 29 year-old pop star displays high maintenance when she told: “When I am on tour, I must have my pillow from home, I have to have my fluffy pillow. And I love shabby chic, so I would like to have all my dressing rooms and my bus done with shabby chic so because that is what my house is done out of, so I have the same feel as my home.”

She recently told The Mirror how much she loves the UK and her British fans, saying: “I’m so excited about bringing my tour there for them. I always have a blast when I’m in the UK and can’t wait to come back. I’m so proud of this show – it’s my best yet.”

Spears, who has just premiered her new song release “I Wanna Go”, is set to marry for the third time to her long-term boyfriend Jason Trawick.

The mother-of-two is kicking off her new summer tour to promote her new album and said on the ITV Daybreak show how she had missed touring: “Yes I have actually, it is a lifestyle, it is a way of life definitely. It can be kind of gruelling sometimes but for the most part, it is a lot of fun. You know, you are somewhere different every day and you don’t know what to expect and it’s just a lot of fun.”

Duvet and Pillow Warehouse’s pillows are so comfy that you will always get that homely feel when you fall asleep on them.

Britney Spears And Rihanna Perform At The 2011 Billboard Music Awards Rihanna & Britney Spears Rock The 2011 Billboard Music Awards PhotosBritney Spears and Rihanna are no strangers to media outbursts and saucy headlines so the latest news is nothing of a surprise.

The duo caused a flurry of feathers at the Billboard Music Awards as they danced and sung in matching bondage-style bodices, fish-nets and handcuffs to their joint hit “S&M”; before ending it with a pillow fight.

The singers sent temperatures soaring as they entertained the crowd with sexy masks, kicky chains and topless dancers whilst provocatively pole dancing. But the grand finale was a pillow fight and a smooch on stage!

The heat-racing performance sent feathers flying through the air and let audiences reminisce back to 2007 when Miss Spears kissed Madonna live on stage too.

The 2011 Billboard Music Awards were held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and Britney surprised the crowd to perform her verse from their remix version of the song after RiRi, 23, took the platform.

Spears, 29, later rocked the show performing her hit song “Till the World Ends” alongside her Femme Fatale tour partner Nicki Minaj.

We feel sorry for the poor guy or gal who had to clean up the mess up after these sexy stars…

Taylor Swift Shares New BFF 'Pillow' Pic With Selena Gomez

Celebrities are often very vocal about who their friends (and enemies) are via social networking sites.

And country singer Taylor Swift is the latest celeb to showcase her fondness for her best friend Selena Gomez.

The teen stars displayed to all their thousands of fans across the world just how pally they are by uploading a BFF pillow picture on their Twitter profiles.

The ‘friends are the best presents’ pillow picture has been posted on the information network to show off the close friendship between the “Love Story” songstress and the Disney actress.

The pair is said to have become good mates over the past year, despite Gomez’s relationship with boyfriend and teen pop star Justin Bieber.

Although the celebs aren’t smiling, the cute image indicates just how happy the friends are with the touching caption “The day @selenagomex and I learned a valuable lesson from a pillow.”

And it isn’t just on Twitter that the duo has been displaying how friendly they are. They have also been spotted hanging out together in public places and often ‘tweeting’ each other messages of affection.

Taylor has over six million fans following her on Twitter compared to Selena’s mere five million. Perhaps they can share their love for one another with Duvet and Pillow Warehouse’s quality Pillows!

Here at Duvet and Pillow Warehouse HQ we have been super excited all week looking forward to this weekend, as tomorrow is International Pillow Fight Day!

Massive pillow fights in cities around the world will be taking place and you can get involved and have fun too in the UK, at Trafalgar Square in London.

Get those pillows at the ready and swing and whack into as many people as you can, making as many feathers fly into the air as possible.

Take the family down and have a fun day out learning more about the urban playground movement; soar your pillows and teddies into the air and witness a giant urban pillow fight; you will never see anything like it ever.

But whatever you do play by the rules; wait for the signal, take soft pillows and keep violence or bad behaviour to a minimal.

If you wear glasses make sure you take them off beforehand and whatever you do. Don’t whack your pillow at a person with a camera; you don’t want to break anything accidently.

Kick off the public square in style with loud air horns, chimes and bells and cloud the air with hundreds of fluffy feathers.

However, the ideal pillow fight leaves no traces that it ever occurred so make sure you help to clean up afterwards!

Look away now if you are an avid Justin Bieber fan because you may not want to read on.

Many die-hard supporters and teenagers may or may not know that the pint-sized pop star has been dating Disney actress Selena Gomez for some time.

The two love birds have been keeping their blushing romance low key to avoid causing media headlines or upsetting some of the 8 million followers who are following the 17 year-old heart throb on Twitter.

But on a show presented by Ellen DeGeneres in American, Selena, 18, was put on the spot when questioned about her new beau.

And to make Bieber fans more livid, Ellen presented the young pop star with a pillow bearing Justin’s face.

“You know he’s going to make me sleep with that every night,” she said when given the Pillow.

Ellen gave the American singer the pillow as a gift in case they were missing each other; as Justin is currently touring the UK whilst Selena is in the USA.

It was only a year ago on the show when Selena adamantly denied any relationship with the “Baby” singer and said he was more like her little brother.

Ellen teased her for denying the teen love affair and later going public with the relationship but Selena explained: “I promise you, I didn’t lie to you.

“He’s just so sweet…I didn’t know at the time,” she said.

Following a request from the European Commission, a panel on animal health and welfare were asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the practice of harvesting and collecting feathers from live geese for down production.

Experts on the Animal and Welfare (AHAW) Panel said that under current commercial conditions, plucking feathers, a way of collecting feathers, is unavoidable.

They recommend that a control system should be put in place to ensure that only moulting feathers are gathered from live geese.

The Working Group made use of information provided by stakeholders during a meeting held in May earlier this year; with experts from the feathers industry, in addition to information collected through a Public Consultation.

Findings from the opinion point out that brushing or combing live geese to collect moulting feathers causes no tissue damage, whereas pulling feathers out will result in pain. However, as different parts of the body moult at different times, some feathers may be unavoidably plucked when brushing and combing techniques are used.

Only feathers at the appropriate moulting phase should be gathered and that welfare-outcome indicators be put in place to ensure this is carried out in practice, such as by checking for the presence of skin tears or tissue on the feathers.

The main recommendation is that only ripe feathers should be removed from live geese. A control system should be in place to ensure this is carried out in practice or, alternatively, feathers should be removed by the person using a brushing or combing procedure so that only ripe feathers can be gathered. Grasping of feathers should be avoided.

Suffering should be avoided or minimised when catching and handling the geese, and geese should never be carried by the neck, legs or by one wing, be thrown or dropped, or be restrained by sitting on the neck or body of the bird. Operators should be aware of good animal handling methods and the differentiation between ripe and unripe feathers.
